Slipping in and out of consciousness I writhe in excruciating pain. Steely fingers kneed my stomach: digging, clawing and I feel as though my insides are being shredded. Its torrid then frigid then torrid again and the sweat slithers down my brow as if to escape the agony of the heat from whence it came. Then comes the undeniable and urgent need to push, with what? How? This doesnt seem to matter as I bear down with every fiber of my being, all my strength, the pain rushing through my frame. Ripping, tearing but Im so close, Ive almost finished what began only fourteen hours ago. Blood gushing, the moment has arrived, and as they place him in my arms all I feel is relief. |
